Department of Planning Human Resources and Finance          
                       
   

The department was established in 1986 as a unit affiliated to the office of the Vice-President for Planning. It is responsible for drawing long-term plans and strategies for Kuwait University along the policies set forward by the University Council.
The department is also responsible for the preparation of all sorts of reports necessary to determine the quantitative and qualitative developments occurring within the different centers of the University. This aims at providing the University higher administration with a better future perspective in order to keep pace with the academic and cultural developments of the most advanced universities.
The department, which is supervised by the Assistant Vice-President for Planning-Human Resources and Finance, operates through the following two main units:


1- Follow-up and Planning Unit:

The unit has the following functions:

1. Co-ordinate, prepare and follow-up the development and strategic plans at the University as well as at the sectors of all related work centers.

2. Prepare the annual operational plans for all work centers to be the foundation for preparing the University budget.

3. Prepare annually follow-up and evaluation reports on the accomplishment of the development (i.e., five-years) plans for colleges, departments, and work centers.

4. Establish evaluation measures and performance indicators for all the University work centers and make use of this in the planning process.

5. Undertake institutional studies, which contribute towards developing the education process at Kuwait University.

6. Prepare and follow-up the implementation of the standardized procedures for implementing the university development (i.e., five years) plan for colleges, departments, and work centers.

7. Prepare and follow-up the implementation of the standardized procedures for following-up the university development (i.e., five years) plan for colleges, departments, and work centers.

8. Prepare the follow-up reports for the annual and bi-annual University plans to be presented to the Ministry of Planning.

9. Prepare an annual report about the activities of the Unit.

10. Prepare any other related assignments.



2- Information and Statistics Unit:

The unit has the following functions:

1. Perform data-mining for the different Kuwait University data-bases to support the Follow-up and Planning Unit.

2. Establish, develop and connect mini databases about teaching, students and manpower at Kuwait University, to be amended every semester or annually.

3. Review Kuwait University statistical data and suggest ways to validate the data entered in the data-bases.

4. Develop and improve the web page of the Sector of the Vice-President for Planning.

5. Set all semester based reports or annual based reports on the planning website.
